I have known Frances for about 25 years. Frances moved across the globe to eventually settle in my neighboring village of Hamm. When I was young, I had little idea of how challenging it must have been coming from a different culture, learning a new language, not knowing anyone. Now, I understand how much courage and strength she must have had. Frances was a person full of life. When I called the Tomordy family home phone (back in pre-cell phone days), there would be this cheerful voice answering the phone, always up for some banter or a funny story. She actually spoke German very well, with a slight charming British accent. Frances has always been there for Eddy and also for his friends. She was helping whenever she could and would cheer everyone up in the process. I admired her attitude of always being so upbeat and positive. My memory below dates from her visit in New York just a few years ago. We went to a Peruvian restaurant with Peter and Eddy and had wine and Pisco Sours. It was a night full of laughter. And she did drink me under the table. She will be greatly missed.
